Russell and Jessica met me for their maternity session on an unusually warm January morning. They were over the moon to capture their first pregnancy with their sweet little boy.
Sunrises in Memphis
I’m always game for an early morning photoshoot. There’s just something magical about watching the rest of the world wake up from slumber as sunlight peeks around corners and through trees. It’s magical, and quiet, and still. In the midst of everything you kind of forget about what’s bothering you and just breathe in the freshness.
I’ve known Russell and Jessica for a few years now, and we were all so excited when they announced their pregnancy last year. For their maternity session they wanted something outdoorsy with a country and rustic feel. We chose a little patch of land behind my house and decided to create some magic. It had rained all week long and I was so worried that the ground would be too saturated to do much with. We got lucky and with a little innovation and some patience (and a sled with a blanket draped over it) we were able to get in some super cute shots.
Bowden Andrew Butler
I don’t know much about SEC football. Wait, let me take that back. I don’t know *anything* about SEC football. I come from Pennsylvania and the only football we watched in my house was the Philadelphia Eagles. They knew right away what they wanted to name their little bundle if it was a boy, and were over the moon to welcome Bowden into the family. It turns out Bobby Bowden is a pretty big deal and he coached their favorite football team, the Florida Seminoles.
We cozied up that Saturday morning and talked about morning sickness, third trimester pains, the anxiousness of waiting on Bowden’s arrival, and their amazing little nursery. I got to watch two of my friends celebrate their little blessing and counted down the days for his arrival. They welcomed Bowden on February 17 and have been snuggling him ever since.
Check out a few of my favorites from our session below. And a big congratulations to Russell and Jessica on their new addition.
