Lindsay and Steven got married on an absolutely beautiful Saturday in Memphis, TN. They were surrounded by their friends and family as they celebrated their union at Cedar Hall.
When I first met the bride and groom I knew that I was going to have the best time photographing their wedding day. They’re both hilarious and such a sweet, sweet couple. At their engagement session the majority of the night was spent laughing and goofing off while we took amazing pictures. Ever since I have been *so* excited for their wedding day. They got married April 28 at Cedar Hall in Bartlett. Unless you have been living under a rock you know the weather this April has been an absolute disaster. It’s been cold and rainy and just bleh. That all changed on Lindsay and Steven’s wedding day! We could not have asked for a more perfect Saturday afternoon! It was sunny, warm, and just an amazing day. Prior to the ceremony the couple exchanged gifts via their bridal party and relaxed while getting ready for the big day.
Lindsay chose simple and elegant white roses for her bouquets as well as decorations for the reception hall. Lindsay even had a special hanky that said “Keep your shit together” with their wedding date on it. This is probably going to be my favorite wedding day detail in the history of weddings. The guys had small white flowers for their boutonnieres and wore grey chucks with their suits. (Can I just say how awesome that is? I love little details like this!) The guestbook was tiny wooden hearts for guests to write messages on and stick in a frame for the couple.
There’s so much beauty at Cedar Hall that it’s nearly impossible to get bored or run out of ideas. The ceremony was held outside and I found myself humming along with the instrumental version of Dashboard Confessional’s “Stolen” as the guests were seated. Steven and the groomsmen entered through wooden doors and anxiously took their places as they waited on the women to emerge. I saw Steven cover his eyes from the sun as he nervously awaited his bride. When the doors to Cedar Hall opened and Lindsay and her father started walking down the aisle I swear everyone around me just took in a deep breath. I heard several people exclaim over my should how beautiful Lindsay looked as she walked towards the man of her dreams. The ceremony was short and incredibly sweet and guests headed to cocktail hour in the Stables while we took formal photos.
Love is Sweet
The reception was a blast! DNA Entertainment did such a good job getting everyone on the dance floor and keeping the guests laughing. The couple thought of literally everything and even supplied white flip flops for the ladies to change into so that their feet wouldn’t hurt while busting a move on the dance floor! There was a photo booth with props that even my second shooter and I had fun with! The couple had little sliders, shrimp and grits, buffalo wings, and other super cute foods for guests to dine on. There was a coffee bar with flavored syrup for guests to customize their own drinks, and can we please talk about the cakes?! Shannon Taylor Cakes did an amazing job on the cakes. The bride and groom had a massive, beautiful, vanilla cake decorated with roses. The groom’s cake was simply out of control. I’ve never seen anything like it. The first time I walked by I thought it was a unique vase, the second time I walked by I realized that it was the grooms cake and straight out of the Alien movies. It was jaw dropping. I think we were all afraid to cut it because it was just so incredibly amazing!
As the night came to a close Mr. and Mrs. Smith were bid farewell with rose petals and a classic car. They spent the following week honeymooning in Grenada, the island not the town in Mississippi, enjoying their newlywed bliss.
Lindsay and Steven, thank you guys so much for choosing me to capture your big day. I had such a blast working with you and meeting your friends and family. I wish you guys years of laughter and bliss!!
