Brittany and Ethan got married on a beautiful Sunday at the Children’s Museum in Memphis! It was an amazing, fun filled day!
The Bride and Groom
Brittany and Ethan were referred to me by two of my previous couples. In fact, one of Ethan’s groomsmen was a groom of mine from a few years ago. So it was so nice to see familiar faces at their big day! I met Brittany and Ethan one winter night for coffee and all things wedding. It was so cute and sweet the way Ethan would hold her hand and the loving glances they shot each other. Within 15 minutes I felt like I was catching up with old friends. I’m pretty sure that I could sit with these two and talk for hours and crack up at their random stories. I really liked Brittany from our email exchange, and when I met her in person I knew immediately why Ethan fell in love with her. She hugs you like she’s known you all of her life, her smile lights up a room, and when she laughs you can’t help but laugh with her. The two of them together are dynamic and I know that their happily ever after is going to be nothing short of amazing.
They told me about how their wedding was going to be at the Children’s Museum of Memphis, and my ears perked up. I’ve been there with my son, but I’ve never shot a wedding there before. Needless to say I was pretty excited! If you’ve ever been to the Children’s Museum you know they have an amazing carousel and that would be in the reception area, free for guests to ride on all night. I mean, who doesn’t love a carousel ride?!
The couple had one set in stone request- that we end the evening at Gibson’s. Their first date was on April 1st at Gibson’s Donuts and they wanted to end their wedding night (March 31st) at the location of their first date. I was so on board for that!
The day of their wedding was beautiful. I was a little worried that the bottom would fall out as spring in Memphis is a little tricky. But mother nature dumped massive amounts of rain on us the days prior and everything was roses on the wedding day. I got there just as the bride started makeup and was instantly met with warmth and love from both families. I grabbed the wedding dress and headed straight to the carousel! I fell in love with the elegant ceremony location, the playful Dr. Seuss quotes on the walls, and the fun details that seemed to fit Brittany and Ethan’s personalities.
Ethan’s sisters were both groomsladies and one was even his best woman! I think I laughed the entire way up to the ceremony. Both sides the families kept me in tears during formal photos, and I’m so happy because I think if we weren’t laughing we’d be crying with joyful anticipation. In the moments leading up to Brittany walking down the aisle Ethan’s face went from nervous, to anticipation, to lighting up the room when she rounded the corner. Even the officiant had everyone in stitches with his jokes during the ceremony.
After they got hitched the bride and groom changed into their reception shoes, grabbed a quick bite, and hit the dance floor and carousel. The couple decked out all of the reception tables with Mad Libs for guests to fill out! They told the DJ to play hits from the 70’s-early 2000’s, and they planned out a night of insane fun for everyone. Guests even enjoyed wedding cake with different layers of flavors and a Gibson’s Donuts table. At the end of the night Brittany surprised her husband with an exit full of light sabers because he is such a huge star wars fan. The three of us wrapped up at Gibson’s where they ate some old fashioneds, toasted each other with milk, and cheers-ed to a happily ever after. They took the ultimate vacation in California filled with Disney days and a relaxing stay in Big Sur.
